Tips for Downloading Facebook Videos

Live Videos

You can download Facebook Live videos after the stream has ended and been saved to the page. Active live streams cannot be downloaded.

Privacy Settings Matter

Only public videos or videos from posts you can access can be downloaded. If you can't view a video on Facebook, you can't download it.

Page vs Profile Videos

Videos from public pages are easier to download. Personal profile videos may have stricter privacy settings.

Shared Videos

If someone shared a video on their timeline, you may need to access the original post for the best quality download.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

"Content not available" or "Video is private"

The video is from a private account, private group, or has restricted privacy settings. Make sure you can view the video on Facebook before attempting to download.

URL not recognized

Make sure you're using the complete Facebook video URL. It should contain "facebook.com" or "fb.watch". Shortened URLs may not always work - try using the full URL instead.

Video deleted or removed

If the video has been deleted by the uploader or removed by Facebook for policy violations, it cannot be downloaded. Verify the video still exists on Facebook.

Respect Facebook Content Creators

When downloading videos from Facebook:

  • • Only download for personal, non-commercial use
  • • Don't repost downloaded videos without permission
  • • Always credit the original creator
  • • Respect Facebook's Terms of Service and Community Standards
  • • Be aware of copyright - many videos contain copyrighted content
